Morocco/Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima: 7 health centers back in service
Health care provision in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region was strengthened on Friday with the reopening of seven first- and second-level urban health centers, as part of a program to upgrade primary health care facilities.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, who was accompanied by the Wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Mohamed Mhidia, the President of the Regional Council, Omar Mourou, and representatives of the authorities, launched the services at the Ben Dibane Health Center in Tangier.representatives, at the Ben Dibane health center in Tangier, to launch the services of these facilities, which come under the jurisdiction of the Tangier-Assilah and Mdiq-Fnideq prefectures, and the province of Tétouan.
These are the first-level urban health centers of "Ben Dibane" and "Beni Makada" in Tangier, "Istiqlal", "Kalaâ" and "Miramar" in the M'diq-Fnideq prefecture, as well as the first-level "El Kasbah" and second-level "Oued Laou" centers (Tétouan province).
The recommissioning of these facilities is part of the implementation of the High Royal Instructions for a far-reaching reform of the national health system, and of the acceleration of the pace of completion of a number of projects.the pace of projects to modernize and rehabilitate health infrastructures, to support the implementation of medical coverage and social protection.
The aim of these structures is to improve healthcare provision, the working environment for healthcare staff, patient orientation and care, as well as the development of a new model of health care.velopment of a new model for healthcare establishments, incorporating a centralized IT system (DPI).
In a statement to the press on this occasion, the Minister indicated that the re-commissioning of these centers is part of the policy of upgrading the health sector, in accordance with the High Royal Instructions aimed at promoting the sector and bringing health services closer to citizens, referring, in this sense, to the Directives of H.M. le Roi Mohammed VI relative à la nécessité d'achever le chantier de la protection sociale avant la fin de l'année en cours.
Khalid Ait Taleb also explained that the "Ben Dibane" first-level health center, which will provide important services to around 60.000 people, is governed by a developed information system enabling citizens to obtain a digital medical record, adding that the KalaâIstiqlal, Miramar (Mdiq-Fnideq prefecture), Beni Makada (Tangier) and Kasbah, as well as the second-level health center in Oued Laou (Tétouan province), which also has a maternity unit.
These facilities will enhance the services provided to the region's inhabitants, as well as to visitors and summer vacationers who opt for the Kingdom's northern region , explaining that the population density in these towns increases fivefold during the summer season.
