France/Carentan-les-Marais. American high school students visit the town
Thirteen young Americans, aged 16 and 17, from Higlands Ranch (Colorado) were received in Carentan's town hall on Friday, March 17, to meet André Ledran, aged 90, who lived in Carentan during World War II.
The young students were on a ten-day tour of France and had to visit the D-Day landing sites as well as Mont-Saint-Michel and Paris.
For all of them, it was their first visit to France and what impressed them the most was the sea, which almost none of them had seen before, says their French teacher and chaperone. They also discovered cheese and love it.
