France, Germany

This Friday March 17th, the marriage room of the town hall welcomed the signature of the twinning act between Pézenas and the German commune of Tamm.

Martin Bernhard, mayor of Tamm, was accompanied by a large delegation from his city, proving the importance of this twinning for the German city.

Thomas Amann, president of the Pézenas-Tamm twinning committee, initiator of this operation, was present and saw, after a year of intense meetings with his committee, the realization of his dream. Nicolas Stange, regional referent for the Franco-German Citizen Fund in Occitania, had come for this important moment.

The mayor, Armand Rivière, let Martin Bernhard speak first, who, in impeccable French, retraced all the steps that had marked the sixty years since the agreement between General de Gaulle and Chancellor Adenauer. "The importance of this reconciliation was obvious and all the progress since this signature marked the important path between our two countries thanks to the efforts of our leaders, but above all to those of the people."

Armand Rivière welcomed this project that came from the citizens and that the municipality would support. Thomas Amann, with great emotion, concluded his remarks with hopes of collaboration that would materialize this dream he had had since his arrival in Pézenas.

The councillors and presidents could then sign the federative act and the applause concluded these moments before a convivial buffet prepared by the municipal kitchen.
