A conference to promote cooperation between Vietnam's Quang Binh province and Thailand's Sakon Nakhon province in economy, trade, investment and other fields was held on March 14-15 in Sakon Nakhon.

According to the Consul General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, Chu Duc Dung, Vietnam and Thailand are preparing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership. By 2022, Vietnam was Thailand's 2nd largest trading partner in ASEAN and 6th largest in the world after China, Japan, the United States, the European Union (EU) and Malaysia. Thailand has always been Vietnam's largest trading partner within the bloc for many years.

The consul general is working with the governors of localities in the northeast region of Thailand to implement cooperation contents in trade, investment, tourism, culture, education and health.

According to the vice chairman of the provincial People's Committee, Phan Manh Hung, Quang Binh has a huge potential to develop sectors such as tourism, clean energy, agro-forestry, fishing and aquaculture, etc..

He expressed his wish, together with Sakon Nakhon, to discuss cooperation opportunities to promote cooperation in investment, trade, tourism, education, agriculture and transportation.

On this occasion, companies from both sides signed 16 memoranda of understanding, serving as a basis for establishing business cooperation relations in the future.
