France/Territorial authorities authorized to provide grants to veterinarians and veterinary students
The DDADUE law (law on various provisions for adapting to European Union law), adopted on December 3, 2020, allows for the delivery of financial and/or material aid to veterinarians and veterinary students by local authorities and their groupings. Two decrees published in May 2021 specify the types of aid and their conditions of granting.
Faced with the phenomenon of veterinary desertification that is spreading throughout the territory, this optional aid, initially conditioned on the exercise of certain rural areas, can, since the adoption of the law on differentiation, decentralization, and the reduction of the number of doctors, be used to support the health of the population. In response to the phenomenon of veterinary desertification that is spreading throughout the country, this optional aid, which was initially conditional on practice in certain rural areas, can, since the adoption of the law on differentiation, decentralization, deand simplification of local public action (known as 3DS) at the beginning of 2022, be delivered in all territories as long as they contribute to the protection of public health and ensure the continuity and permanence of care for farm animals.
A decree in the Council of State is currently being prepared to take into account the elimination of the zoning criterion.
