DRC: PDL-145 T, Maniema Province to Benefit from US$71 Million

The province of Maniema, with its seven (7) territories, will benefit from an envelope of 71,360,129 USD within the framework of the Local Development Program of the 145 territories (PDL-145T), initiated by the President of the Republic, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi.

The announcement was made by the Acting Provincial Governor of Maniema, Afani Idrissa Mangala, at the opening, on Tuesday, July 6, 2022, in Kindu, of the workshop on awareness and ownership of the Local Development Program of the 145 territories.

The objective of these meetings is to put in place operational mechanisms for the implementation of the said program in the province of Maniema.

In his speech, Afani Idrissa Mangala welcomed the will of the Congolese Head of State, Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, to develop the basic entities of the country.

On the same occasion, he urged all segments of the population to appropriate this program.

According to Jean Amisi Mutumbi Kalonganya, representative of the UNDP, the structure that will execute the PDL-145 T in Maniema, the different actions will be oriented on the development of infrastructures and basic economic social services, the promotion of dynamic rural economies based on agricultural value chains, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and the development of the rural economy.value chains, small and medium-sized craft enterprises, strengthening local governance and the capacities of national and local actors, as well as developing a monitoring information system that will promote endogenous local development between rural and urban areas and poverty reduction.

For his part, the Bishop of the United Methodist Church, Gabriel Undavemba, invited the population of Maniema to take ownership of this integral development program.
He asked all stakeholders to show honesty, integrity and a spirit of work well done for the success of this program which aims at improving the living conditions of the Congolese.

Note that this workshop brings together members of the provincial government, heads of decentralized and deconcentrated territorial entities, national and provincial deputies, as well as members of civil society and the living forces of Maniema.
