This line is part of the 90 km long Mandjou-Batouri road section, the construction of which was launched in 2016 and is part of the three-year Emergency Plan (Planut) of the Eastern Region.

The Mandjou-Akokan road axis, a 45 kilometer long section of National Road No. 10 between Bertoua and Batouri in the East region, is officially open to the public. The inauguration was presided over by Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, Minister of Public Works (Mintp) on June 5, 2022. This linear is part of the 90 km long Mandjou-Batouri road section whose construction was launched in 2016 and is part of the three-year Emergency Plan (Planut) of the East region prescribed by the Head of State.

The work provides for a width of the wearing course of 7m and 12 m in urban areas from Mandjou to Batouri. The width of the shoulders is 1.50 m in the open country and 2 m in built-up areas. The construction of hydraulic structures, consisting of 14 gutters, 34 concrete culverts, the grassing of the embankments, signage, the construction of the toll station and the construction of related infrastructure (boreholes, community huts, playgrounds, classrooms, cassava drying sheds and market sheds). After some delays, the deployment of the company MAG Sarl has allowed to accelerate the work since last year. At present, work on the second Akokan-Batouri lot is sufficiently advanced. In addition, work on the Batouri-Kwelé route has also begun and the first layer of bitumen can be seen between Batouri and Kambele.

It should be remembered that National Road No. 10 is of great economic importance for three countries in the Cemac sub-region, namely Cameroon, CAR and Congo-Brazzaville. Every day, large trucks carrying goods from Cameroon use this route to enter CAR from Kentzou in the Kadey department to Moloundou in Boumba-et-Ngoko in Congo. For years, this section of National Road No. 10 has been a hindrance to commercial transactions between the three countries because of its poor condition. The ongoing asphalting work is a breath of fresh air to boost trade between the three countries.

By proceeding to the commissioning of this infrastructure of sub-regional integration and local development, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi asked users to respect the Highway Code and the loads and weights of vehicles to ensure the sustainability of this infrastructure.
