Organized by the European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD), the forum took place on June 15 at the Don Bosco Vocational Training Center (CFPDB) in Pointe-Noire, in the third district, Tié-Tié, in collaboration with schools.

The young learners or graduates of technical courses of the CFPDB exchanged, during the meeting, with industrial companies of Pointe-Noire to facilitate their professional integration. Through open workshops on the writing of a curriculum vitae (CV), the construction of a professional project, the online job search on the recruitment site emploi.cg, and the simulation of a job interview, the young people met with professionals from different sectors and the Center's Office of Orientation and Employment, in order to be accompanied in their job search. In addition to these workshops, they participated in a conference on the theme"Dare to launch yourself into entrepreneurship in Congo".

According to Stephen Kombo, entrepreneurial training advisor at the IECD, the particularity of the 2022 edition is that it brought together entrepreneurship actors to present alternatives to salaried employment. "The objective is that at the end of this forum, young entrepreneurs or project leaders will have a clear idea of self-employment; that they will understand that they are not obliged to submit their CVs to companies in order to make themselves useful in society. Entrepreneurship is therefore an added value for the youth by creating wealth through income generating activities. The commercial sector is not the only one concerned, it is also necessary to train and accompany entrepreneurs and project holders of the industrial sector who sometimes feel neglected," he said.

Answering the press, Yves Ahner, delegate of the IECD Congo, said that the second edition of this forum is a real success. "What is currently missing in our landscape, it is our role to develop it, I think of the human and the economy. We have brought together here the various companies and young people seeking employment. We are currently prioritizing the industrial and energy sectors, these are the sectors that interest the largest companies. What we are doing today is creating communication networks so that people who are looking for a job understand better what employers are looking for and that those who are looking for staff also know what people are coming out of the schools," he said.

About 10 companies participated in this second edition, the first having taken place in July 2021. The IECD is an international solidarity organization present in Congo since 2012. It works in partnership with local institutions and companies in the field of training and professional integration, support for very small businesses and access to health care for the most vulnerable people. The Graines d'espérance project, launched in Pointe-Noire in 2020, offers quality training to young people with no qualifications so that they can acquire sustainable employment in sectors where they have no qualifications. The Grains of Hope project, launched in Pointe-Noire in 2020, offers quality training to young people without qualifications so that they can acquire sustainable employment in promising sectors, and thus meet the skills needs of companies operating in the industrial and energy sectors.
