INTERVIEW WITH MADAME YVONNE EYIDI, MAYOR OF THE COMMUNE OF NKONGSAMBA 3rd
I thank you for the opportunity you are giving me to enlighten the public opinion on the activities we have been carrying out in the Nkongsamba 3rd District Commune (CAN) for almost two and a half years.
In what state did you find this locality when you took office?
When I took office in CAN 3rd, I found a local authority under construction. The two councils that succeeded each other under the presidency of my predecessor, have after 13 years, laid the foundations through the realization of some works for the benefit of the populations. Much remained and remains to be done to significantly improve the environment and the living conditions of these valiant populations.
What would you like us to remember about your mid-term report in terms of achievements?
With the whole of the municipal council, the municipal agents and the population, I have undertaken many projects. Some are already completed, others are underway, and still others are in the planning stage. As achievements, we can mention among others :
In the area of health
-The rehabilitation of the Ekol-Mbeng Integrated Health Center with the opening of a maternity ward for the care of pregnant women and newborns;
In the area of education
- The construction of a block of two (02) classrooms at the Ngwa public school;
- The construction of a kindergarten block at the public school of Poola;
- The construction of a latrine block at the bilingual school of Nkongsamba 3rd;
In terms of drinking water supply
- The construction of a drinking water supply in Poola;
In terms of support to the professional training of young people
-Equipping the sewing and computer workshops of the Multifunctional Center for Youth Promotion in Nkongsamba 3rd;
In terms of communal infrastructure
Completion of the construction of the Nkongsamba 3rd town hall;
The rehabilitation of the Essoua Bridge RN5-Nkongsamba 3rd Town Hall road section with the Essoua Bridge-Officer's Camp ramp;
In terms of empowering the municipal institution by improving its own revenues
-The construction of a market hall in Poola;
-The construction of ten (10) stores in Poola;
-The acquisition of ten (10) tricycles;
-The convention and the extension of communal housing in Ekol-Mbeng (Pastoral 3);
Do you have the feeling since your arrival at the head of the executive to have federated, behind you, the populations organized within the intermediary bodies as well as the majority of the members of the municipal council to carry out your missions?
Yes, we are perfectly in phase with the populations because their concerns, which are carried by the intermediary bodies, are taken into account within the framework of what is known as participatory development. In this regard, our municipality has a Communal Development Plan (CDP) which lists the needs of our fellow citizens for the next five years, which we try to satisfy according to the means available, with the help of the State's ministerial departments and development partners.
What are the key projects of the second part of your mandate?
As flagship projects for the second part of our mandate, I will mention :
- In the field of education
In order to promote access to education for all, we will continue to densify our school map by building and equipping full-cycle school infrastructures by putting in place solidarity mechanisms for school support to students from difficult backgrounds;
-In terms of drinking water supply
In order to promote access to drinking water for all, we will ensure that all the populations of Nkongsamba 3rd localities are supplied with drinking water;
In terms of urbanization
We will make it a point of honor to create new cities and to provide public lighting with photovoltaic solar panels in the rural and urban localities of the Nkongsamba 3rd district;
On the level of the autonomy of the communal institution by the improvement of its own revenues
We will do what is necessary for the opening of the Nkongsamba
3rd with the construction of sixteen (16) additional new stores; the opening of the Poola Modern Market, the acquisition and operation of two (02)
(02) ten (10) wheel dump trucks;
In terms of communal infrastructure
We will ensure the construction of a fence, a restaurant, a recreation room including the development of outdoor spaces at the Nkongs City Hospital.the rehabilitation of the EEC de Poola-Domicile Ndedi Eyango-Carrefour Wouri-Village Mboriko road section with a ramp at the Paradis Bar intersection and the Carrière Carrefour Chefferie entry.e Carrière Carrefour Chefferie Poola; the paving in cut stones of the road sections in the locality of Mbaressoumtou village following the HIMO (High Intensity Labor) approach; the Equipment of the Nkongsamba 3rd town hall; and the construction of a bridge over the Loungue River in the Ngwa locality.
How would you like to be remembered for your time at the head of the executive of the commune of Nkongsamba 3rd?
I would like to remain in the minds of the people of Nkongsamba 3rd, the city of Nkongsamba, the department of Moungo, Cameroon, and the whole world, as the Mayor who contributed significantly to improving the living environment and the quality of life of the people.The Mayor has contributed significantly to improving the living conditions and the daily life of farmers, traders, health personnel, teachers, students, the disabled, and under-educated girls in the district of Nkongsamba 3rd. In short, the one who has brought and carried the development of this beautiful township of the Moungo department.
