The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Hervé HEHOMEY, has begun a tour to supervise the road construction sites of the Government Action Program (PAG). The first stage of the Minister's visit on Friday 25 March 2022 was the Kétou-Idigny-Igbodja-Savè road (85.80 km) and its ramps Omou-Illadji-Mossoukagbé-Ayékotonian (26.60 km) and Savè-Oké Owo Nigeria border (27.50 km). This is a road development and asphalting project which is in its finishing phase and around which the workers are busy giving the final touches.

Visiting the various sections of the project, the Minister of Infrastructure noted the significant progress of the work. According to Hervé HEHOMEY, the overall execution rate of the works, as presented by the control mission, is estimated at 95.80%. Hence his satisfaction. For Hervé HEHOMEY, the company Consorcio Constructor de Estradas (CCE) in charge of the works and the group of offices Horse-Stem Benin-AFEC mandated to ensure the control and supervision of the works have done a quality work.

In view of the quality of the infrastructure built, the Honourable Member of Parliament Edmond AGOUA, on behalf of his fellow MPs present at this site visit, thanked the Head of State."I am in a well governed country. I want to bow to President Patrice TALON, the Head of State. I see now how I have been useful to the Beninese since 2016, at the level of Parliament. I see now how the Beninese deputies have been useful, because we have ratified laws that have put at the disposal of the Government the necessary material and financial means, which should enable it to develop our country. The development of a country is communication, and communication is roads. We have enough roads that allow us today to reach both ends. From Cotonou to Glazoué, instead of 2 hours and 30 minutes, I can now do 1 hour and 30 minutes. This is important," said Edmond AGOUA.

In his capacity as Mayor of the commune of Savè, and on behalf of the mayors of all the communes benefiting from the project, Dénis OBA CHABI congratulated the Government and its Head for the realization of this road.

Hundreds of direct jobs created

Through the realization of this road development and asphalting project, the Government has created 539 direct jobs including 514 local and 25 expatriate. It can be noted that about 95% of the staff are Beninese. As a reminder, the project to develop and pave the Kétou-Idigny-Igbodja-Savè road and its ramps is the result of good cooperation between Benin and Brazil, which provides the main funding.
