Vietnam and Cuba strengthen media cooperation
Vietnam and Cuba have reached an agreement to strengthen exchanges of professional experience and the training of human resources in the field of television production.
This consensus was reached during a working visit to Cuba by a delegation from Vietnam Television (VTV), led by Tu Luong, Director of the VTV Center in Ho Chi Minh City. The delegation met with Jorge Legañoa Alonso, Vice-President of the Cuban Institute of Information and Social Communication (IICS), to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral collaboration.
One of the main objectives of the visit is to produce a short documentary on the success of a Vietnamese rice-growing project in Cuba. The film is scheduled for broadcast on VTV1 to mark the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945-2025).
Jorge Legañoa Alonso expressed his deep gratitude for Vietnam's continued support for Cuba during this difficult period. He recalled Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro's famous statement: "For Vietnam, Cuba is ready to shed its blood", stressing that Vietnam continues today to show the same spirit of solidarity towards Cuba.
The two sides agreed to release the film simultaneously in Vietnam and Cuba as part of activities marking the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960-2025) and the Vietnam-Cuba Year of Friendship in 2025.
On this occasion, the VTV delegation also presented television equipment to its Cuban partners and gifts to the authorities and inhabitants of the Los Angeles district.s and residents of the Los Palacios district in Pinar del Río province, where the CT16 rice variety project is being implemented.
