Switzerland/Neuchâtel adopts its strategy for sustainable development
The Conseil d'Etat of Neuchâtel has just adopted its strategy for sustainable development. In line with the vision of the United Nations' Agenda 2030, it formalizes the canton's commitments and objectives in this area for the next ten years.
The document is the benchmark for strengthening the coherence and coordination of the canton's public policies, State Council President Florence Nater, in charge of employment and social cohesion, and her colleague Laurent Favre, in charge of territorial development and the environment, said on Friday.
Thanks to input from 60 of the State's stakeholders, the consultation process helped consolidate the government's project. Action in favor of sustainable development is a mandate enshrined in the Constitution and the Agenda 21 law. The executive now wants to ensure that this is legally anchored in the canton's policy.
For this reason, it is proposing to the Grand Council a new law on public action for sustainable development (LDD) to replace the Agenda 21 law.
