Morocco/Taliouine hosts the 16th International Saffron Festival

The town of Taliouine, Taroudant province, is hosting its 16th International Saffron Festival from November 20 to 23, under the theme "Sustainable management of water resources: a lever for the development of the saffron industry in mountainous regions".

Organized by the Association du Festival International du Safran and its partners, this event is part of the Generation Green 2020-2030 national strategy launched by the French Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fishing, Rural Development and Forestry.re de l'Agriculture, de la pêche maritime, du développement rural et des eaux et forêts (Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fishing, Rural Development, Water and Forests), which aims to enhance the value of high-value-added agricultural sectors and promote sustainable development.

According to the organizers, this year's edition is of particular importance, as the scientific and professional sessions will focus on the promotion of good water resource management practices and the adoption of innovative, environmentally-friendly agricultural practices in line with climate change.

The aim is to build the capacity of farmers and professionals to help achieve ambitious national goals, including increasing the area under saffron cultivation to 3,000 hectares and improving productivity to over 13 tonnes by 2030.

The festival program includes an exhibition of local saffron products, with the expected participation of 120 exhibitors. The event provides a professional platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences between players and professionals in the sector, including farmers and cooperatives, and offers the opportunity to discover successful national and international production and marketing experiences.

Visitors will have the opportunity to discover Taliouine saffron products, learn about its nutritional and health benefits, and explore the agricultural and economic potential of the Taliouine and Taznakht region.The region is renowned for its peaceful setting, ideal for relaxing and discovering nature, thus contributing to the development of environmentally-friendly tourism.

For four days, the event will feature specialized workshops at the Maison du Safran in Taliouine, designed to enhance the skills of players and professional organizations in digital marketing, networking and entrepreneurship.

The festival will also feature economic, cultural and sporting activities, as well as musical performances and artistic evenings celebrating the main professional cooperatives and paying tribute to professionals and players in the saffron industry.
