Morocco/Sefrou: 17 million DH for the development of ecotourism

An amount of 17 million DH has been mobilized for the realization of an integrated tourist project in the province of Sefrou, with the aim of developing rural and mountain tourism in the region of Fez-Meknes.

The project is supported by the Ministries of Agriculture, Urban Planning and Youth and Sport, the Directorate General of Local Authorities (DGCL), the Regional Council of Fez-Meknes and the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH). It also benefits from the support of the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering (SMIT), the Provincial Council of Sefrou and the Communal Councils concerned.
Called "Dar El Hamra Corridor", the project, which is being implemented in four communes of the province, aims at reinforcing the tourist infrastructure at the level of the target communes within the framework of a participative and inclusive approach involving the local populations.
This initiative, which aims at contributing to the animation and development of ecological and mountain tourism, will benefit the communes of Adraj, Dar El Hamra, Ighesrane and Tafejjaghte, in the perspective of its extension to other localities.
According to the promoters of the project, the province of Sefrou has a great potential for the development of ecotourism. A niche that will help preserve biodiversity and the environment, as well as cultural resources and traditions specific to the territories.
This sector is known for its complex cross-sectoral value chain where the various stakeholders are called to work with local populations to create an industrialized offer of ecotourism.
