Morocco/Ouarzazate: Meeting of the regional commission for the care of women victims of violence

The regional commission for the care of women victims of violence held a meeting in Ouarzazate on Wednesday, devoted to assessing the work of the regional unit dedicated to this mission, examining the problems and challenges encountered in this field and seeking solutions.

Initiated under the slogan "All for the protection of women victims of violence", this meeting was an opportunity to review the work done by this commission under the jurisdiction of the Ouarzazate Court of Appeal during this stage and to assess the achievements accomplished.

Speaking at the meeting, the King's Public Prosecutor at the Ouarzazate Court of Appeal, Mohamed Mounir Idrissi, emphasized the interestt granted by Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, to vulnerable categories, particularly women and children who are victims of violence.

He emphasized the need for active and serious commitment on the part of all concerned in implementing the action plan of the regional commission for the care of victims of violence.The plan aims to safeguard the rights and freedoms guaranteed to women and children who are victims of violence by the Constitution and international charters.

"The Presidency of the Public Prosecutor's Office is committed to interacting with public policies, as well as protecting rights, freedoms, public safety and order, and moralizing public life", he said.he affirmed, expressing the determination of the Public Prosecutor's Office to protect certain categories of society for particular reasons, especially women and children who are victims of various forms of violence.

In the same context, the King's Attorney General at the Ouarzazate Court of Appeal recalled the Marrakech Declaration on combating violence against women, signed on March 8, 2020 under the effective presidency of HRH Princess Lalla Meryem.

He also referred to the signing of the Territorial Protocol for the Care of Women Victims of Violence between the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Development, Equality and the Family and the Ministry of the Interior.galité et de la Famille and the Ministry of Health, as well as another agreement signed with the Ministry of Education on the activation of the law on compulsory basic education.

The meeting was attended by members of the regional commission for the care of women victims of violence, representatives of the relevant ministerial departments, civil society players and judicial police officers.
