Morocco/Al Haouz: the reconstruction drive continues unabated

One year after the earthquake that shook the Al Haouz region, reconstruction and rehabilitation work on homes that have totally or partially collapsed is continuing unabated to enable affected families to return to their homes as quickly as possible.

Speed, mobilization, commitment and seriousness are the watchwords of this virtuous dynamic, whose absolute priority is none other than rehousing families in the best possible conditions, in accordance with the High Royal Instructions.

When contacted by MAP, a number of households were keen to express their deep gratitude to HM King Mohammed VI for His high solicitude, as well as to the authorities and the various parties involved, who are sparing no effort to ensure that the families are rehoused in the best possible conditions.the reconstruction and rehabilitation operation that will enable them to return to their homes, months after the tragic earthquake.

More than 23,360 houses have been demolished out of a total of 23,500, while the rate of progress is approaching 99%, thanks to the combined efforts of the Direction de l'Equipement and the Ministry of the Interior, despite the difficult terrain in some cases.

In fact, great progress has been made in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of dwellings totally or partially destroyed by the earthquake.Despite the geological challenges that characterize this region, a great deal of progress has been made in rehabilitating and rebuilding homes that were totally or partially destroyed in the earthquake.

Many of the families contacted by MAP were unanimous in their praise for the efforts made in this direction by the authorities and all those involved, claiming that they receive 2,500 dirhams in monthly support.

While some of them live with close relatives or neighbors, others say they have rented accommodation thanks to the assistance they have received. Others are still living in tents, waiting for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of their homes to be completed.

In the province of Al Haouz, out of a total of 27,205 households whose homes were destroyed or damaged, 8,187 are currently living in tents, according to local authorities.
