France/ Pont-Aven. The twinning committee prepares new projects
It was supposed to illustrate the 50th anniversary of Pont-Aven's twinning with the German town of Hofgeismar: a hand injury prevented Yves Quentel, president of Hang'art, from helping complete the painting in time! It was therefore presented for the first time on Saturday, on the twinning committee's stand at the forum des associations.
To mark 50 years of twinning, the painters from Hang'art de Nizon, in association with the Pont-Aven-Hofgeismar twinning committee, decided to paint a picture based on a photo taken at the committee's 25th anniversary in 1998.
The association, now fifty years old, is preparing new projects: a "photo evening" in October, to take stock of the twinning anniversary; a sauerkraut meal in November; the traditional "Stammtisch", conversations in German over a drink, on the last Monday of each month from 6 to 7 pm at the Grand Moulin. But the association is determined to reach out to young people. We've welcomed two German trainees, one at the museum, the other at the town hall," recalls Anaïg Jacq. The Germans would like to repeat the experience, and we're totally in favor of it.
The president of the twinning association would also like to renew the association's logo, and is planning to launch a competition for schoolchildren.
