France/ Local authorities join forces to develop renewable gases
On the occasion of the Salon des Maires et des Collectivités Locales, ADEME and GRDF made official the creation of a collective bringing together some thirty territories committed to the development of renewable gases.
Launched jointly by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) and GRDF, this new network aims to promote the production, distribution and local use of renewable gases through "concrete, pragmatic solutions". Each member will benefit from individualized support and the sharing of expertise within the collective.
Biomethane, at the heart of the climate challenge
Biomethane plays a key role in helping France achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. According to ADEME, accelerating these projects is essential if we are to make progress towards the decarbonization targets set for 2035.
" Sharing best practices and mobilizing committed players are essential to achieving decarbonization objectives for territories," stresses David Marchal, Executive Director of Expertise and Programs at ADEME.
Collective mobilization for sustainable territories
By supporting local players and sharing pragmatic solutions, this collective aims to become a major lever of the energy transition.
" This initiative will help to advance concrete solutions for the production and consumption of renewable gases, to the benefit not only of its members, but also of all stakeholders in the energy sector. rançois-Xavier Olivieri, GRDF General Secretary.
