Yffiniac's twinning with the Bavarian community of Wackersberg in Germany is alive and well. Althoughformalized in 2022, relations between the two communes began as early as 2002. For the past 25 years, young people from Yffiniac have been visiting Wackersberg every year, and vice versa.

On Friday June 13, Yffiniac town hall organized a reception for 23 young people from Wackersberg, aged 13 to 16, and their five accompanying adults. Arriving on Sunday June 8 and welcomed by Yffiniac families, they visited a cookie factory, the Maison de la Baie, the Ile de Batz, a mussel farm, and had fun at the Wake-park in Dolo. On Thursday evening, they honored their hosts by wearing their traditional dress.

Strong words for peace

For the two presidents of the twinning committees, Alain Le Mau for Yffiniac and Christoph Lasthka for Wackersberg, as well as Denis Hamayon, mayor of Yffiniac, the words spoken in 2022 by the mayor of Wackersberg resonate even more strongly in the current context. "May this twinning be crowned with success and contribute to a future that will forever unite peoples in peace".
