As part of the launch of a public information campaign, the very first meeting was held at the foyer des jeunes last Thursday, where mayor Véronique Rumeau welcomed Christine Tequi, president of the departmental council, accompanied by technicians from the structure. It's worth noting that: "Ariège is the only department to support users", says the President of the Department.

The current network consists of copper cables inside homes. This network is owned by Orange (formerly France-Télécom), which has announced its intention to shut down this copper infrastructure between 2027 and the end of 2029. In Ariège, the date of this definitive cut-off is set for January 31, 2027.

Since 2018, the département has invested 140 million euros to roll out this new 100% wireline network.

29 communes are still affected by this end "of copper" by January 31, 2027.

"We'll be going door-to-door to support the people of Ariege all the way. The department has decided to go directly to residents, as and when the historic service closes, in order to prepare homes for connection. This first meeting bears witness to this.

Nicolas Hurault, Director of Ariège Très Haut Débit, Thomas Quentin, Technical Director, and Frédéric Blanc took it in turns to explain the changes. Answering questions from the sixty or so participants.
