The commune of Mellac is hosting its twinned committee counterparts from Piltown, Ireland, from Wednesday August 13 to August 20. To celebrate the 45th anniversary of their union, a warm welcome ceremony was held at the town hall on Thursday evening, August 14, 2025. This official celebration was preceded by a unique experience for the five Irish guests and their host families: a climb up the church tower, guided by the mayor, Franck Chapoulie.

A week rich in discoveries

The week's program, carefully concocted by President Odile Sivy and members of the Twinning Committee, is packed with discoveries. Visitors will be able to explore the jewels of the region, from the fortified city of Concarneau to the historic town of Port-Louis, via Pontivy.

The highlight of their stay will undoubtedly be a trip aboard the Napoleon Express, a journey out of time. This visit will once again strengthen the ties between Mellac and Piltown, testifying to the vitality of this twinning which has lasted for over four decades.
