The Loir-et-Cher Chamber of Agriculture and the departmental council presented their progress on the ecological agricultural transition program on Tuesday June 25.

On Tuesday June 25, representatives of the departmental council and the chamber of agriculture reviewed the 41-Agri 2030 agenda with farming partners. The aim of this national plan for the Loir-et-Cher region is to help farms move towards sustainable agriculture.

Arnaud Bessé, President of the Loir-et-Cher Chamber of Agriculture, stated his objective: "To develop a long-term strategy to establish agriculture as a pillar of the department's sustainable development. "

Preserving jobs, helping the ecological transition

The attractiveness of jobs in the agricultural sector is a major issue raised in this progress report: Departmental Council President Philippe Gouet is proposing assistance for slaughterhouse employees in the Perche vendômois to improve their working conditions. Subsidies for veterinary surgeons working on livestock in the Loir-et-Cher region will also be introduced in 2024.

For greener energy, methanizers are still the preferred solution for producing biogas. The Chamber of Agriculture is also looking to develop the hemp industry in the département.

According to Philippe Gouet, president of the departmental council, the future of the agricultural sector in Loir-et-Cher lies in "even higher vation standards, reducing the use of pesticides, optimizing water management and paying greater attention to animal welfare."
