It's one of the fears of many rural communities in France and in Haute-Vienne: that shops and services will gradually disappear from village centers. In Pierre-Buffière, the town council is launching a study to revitalize the town center.
Although Pierre-Buffière is a "village-étape", a label awarded to towns close to major roads and offering hospitality, accommodation and restaurants, the mayor of Pierre-Buffière regrets that some shops, such as a butcher's, are disappearing and that visitor numbers are falling. A study has been launched to understand consumer expectations.
