France/In Couiza, twinning takes shape
A twinning committee is being set up between the towns of Couiza, Arques and Joyeuse in the Ardèche.
Le club des 5 cyclos
The adventure began in 1995, when Yvan Serret read about a ride called "Ducs de Joyeuse" in the Luberon in the FFCT magazine. Curious, Pierre Fargier, president of the Joyeuse cyclo club, decided to contact the Couizan club after discovering that the two towns were linked by marriage from distant ancestors. When the attempt to twin the two towns failed, it was the two cycling clubs that twinned in 1997. But the dynamic sporting twinning still continues every year between 5 cyclos clubs: Couiza, Joyeuse, Villelaure Cadenet, Maëlla and Auch.
Arques-Couiza-Joyeuse
On Wednesday November 6, the committee defined the course to be followed and postponed the next meeting to Wednesday November 20 at 6 p.m. (at the Salle Verte), with a call for people to get involved.
On the agenda: definition and scope of actions to be carried out as part of the twinning and election of the first executive committee.
