A delegation from Graulhét presented products from the Tarn region at the Prien am Chiemsee Christmas market, reinforcing the Franco-German friendship.

At the request of their friends from Prien, the IFK Prien (Internationaler Freundschaftskreis Prien), a small delegation from the Comité de jumelage de Graulhet visited the twin town of Prien am Chiemsee in Bavaria from December 4 to 7. The aim was to take part in the local Christmas market and showcase local and Tarn specialities to a Bavarian public always keen to discover new gastronomic and craft products. From December 5 to 7, the Graulhétoise team set up a chalet in the heart of the Christmas village. Several specialities were showcased: Gaillac wine, garlic, Bruyère cookies, Lacaune charcuterie and Graulhétoise leather goods, recalling the city's historic expertise in leather.

The stand helped to promote the Tarn region far beyond its usual borders. Despite wintry temperatures, visitors turned out in force throughout the event. The specialities on offer were a big hit with the public, who were seduced by both the quality of the products and the warm welcome they received at the chalet. Beautifully decorated and animated in a warm atmosphere, the Graulhétois stand benefited from the active support of IFK volunteers.IFK volunteers, whose involvement contributed greatly to the success of the event. The Bavarians were able to taste the traditional garlic soup, appreciate Tarn wines and exchange ideas on the culinary traditions of the South-West.

As always, the Graulhétois delegation received a particularly warm welcome and shared convivial moments with their German counterparts. "According to the participants, this first participation in this winter event was an interesting and enriching experience, marked by numerous encounters", emphasizes Anne-Marie Jardry. "It also served as a reminder and reinforcement of the bonds of friendship that have united our two towns for 54 years now."

At the end of their stay, Graulhétois and Priennois parted with a certain amount of emotion, but also with a clear desire to continue and maintain this long-standing relationship. The next meeting is already planned for Graulhet in 2026, with the aim of introducing local residents to Bavarian specialities. This project, which highlights Franco-German friendship and the European ideal, is supported by the Franco-German Fonds Citoyen and the town of Graulhet, partners committed to promoting cultural exchanges.
