France/Escautpont formalizes twinning with Spanish town of Umbrete
It all began when the mayor of Escautpont visited Andalusia. After an initial signature in Spain in November, the commune became officially twinned with Umbrete on December 12.
Escautpont has formalized its twinning with the Spanish town of Umbrete in Andalusia. This twinning is part of a cooperative initiative between two towns of comparable size. The aim is to develop joint projects in various fields, such as the local economy, schools and associations, culture and leisure. The aim of this partnership is to strengthen the links between the two areas and encourage exchanges between residents.
The initiative has its origins in a chance meeting between the two elected representatives. During a family trip to Andalusia, Escautpont mayor Raphaël Kruszynski met José Llorente Prieto, his counterpart from Umbrete . This friendly relationship gradually evolved into a twinning project , culminating in the first official signature in Spain on November 9.
The Spanish mayor, accompanied by a dozen-strong delegation, signed the twinning agreement with Raphaël Kruszynski on December 12. To seal this cooperation, the elected representatives planted the "twinning tree" on December 13, in conjunction with the inauguration of the Christmas market.
