France/Couiza cyclos fine-tune organization of 2026 twinning event
The general meeting of the Cyclo club couizanais was held on Thursday November 20. President Thierry Peres welcomed Marie-Cindy Damboy, representing the municipality, numerous members of the association and two special guests: President Fernando Barcelo and his friend Javier Ballarin from the Maëlla club.
After recounting the highlights of the 2025 season, which was rich in outdoor sports participation, weekly training sessions (Codep11's Pays Cathare hike), twinning in the Vaucluse region and the Pic de Nore climb. Highly commended by the participants were Rémy, the young Couizan who, during his August vacation in the Alps, took on the challenge ofHe was joined by 83-year-old veteran Jean-Claude Prome, who comes from Alzonne every Saturday to cycle with the Couizanais. It was also an opportunity to pay tribute to Jean-Claude Courtot for designing the routes.
After unanimous votes on the moral, sports and financial reports, the objectives for the coming year were set. The main focus will be the organization of the 30th anniversary of the twinning, which will take place in Couiza. The club will be hosting the four other clubs in this rather exceptional twinning: Villelaure Cadenet, Joyeuse, Maëlla and Auch. The municipality has already allocated an exceptional grant of €2,000 to the organizing club. Preparatory meetings will be held in the near future.
