France/Bressuire - Leixlip: 25 years of twinning celebrated
The twinning committee Bressuire - Leixlip is getting ready to receive from May 26th to 30th an Irish delegation and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the twinning.
The stay will be punctuated by several highlights including an exhibition at the castle and Ireland will be guest of honor at the Highland games. The president Mary Pinet has detailed the program of these events. Many photos taken during the trips organized by the twinning will be exhibited, including those of Marie-Claire Giraud who realized the photo chosen for the poster. The different facets of Ireland will be presented (geography, literature, sport, music...). A section entitled "The Road to Independence" will trace the events that took place 100 years ago and led to independence. The students of the "techniques and show business" section of Saint Joseph High School have also contributed to this exhibition by making elements of traditional Irish costumes. The exhibition will be open to the public for three weekends and will open on May 29.
Highland games and the year of Ireland Three Irish groups will be present at the Highland games on June 11 and 12 for the 11th visit of the Scoil Rince Mobhi school dancers. "This group of a good level did a show at Bocapole in 2019," recalls Mary Pinet. We will recognize their saffron-colored plain kilt "the Scout Pipe band room", the only pipe band attached to a group of Irish scouts. On Saturday evening, the people of Bressui will be able to enjoy traditional Irish dances with the Kilteel group which will lead a ceilidh (dance and music meetings). The twinning anniversary will be celebrated throughout the year. Its president already gives appointment in October during the film festival of twinning and on November 18 for what she describes as "anice moment" with a show entitled Irish Destinies.
