DRC/Capacity building: a workshop for EPI staff
In partnership with the organization Village Reach, the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) has been organizing a capacity building workshop for its staff since January 19 on the procedures for disbursing funds from different partners.
The objective of the workshop is to improve financial management at the EPI level by strengthening the capacities of agents involved in the field. In order to become familiar with the requirements of the procedures for managing the funds allocated by the partners, the participants were educated on the identification of the strengths and weaknesses of the mechanisms used by each partner in the management of funds, the formulation of recommendations Finally, the training of executives and financiers at the central level on the procedures for disbursing funds from the various partners as well as trainers to support the divisions, particularly the EPI coordinations and antennas.
The Country Director/DRC of Village Reach, Musari Patu, indicated at the opening of this workshop that it will be a question of clarifying the mechanisms for disbursing government and partner funds through the immunization activity. The organization of this workshop, he added, is one of the recommendations of the mid-term review organized in August 2022 in Matadi. During this meeting, it was noted that there was a deficiency in the procedure for knowledge of the disbursement of funds. According to Musari Patu, the workshop on partners' fund management procedures is of paramount importance because it allows clarification of each partner's procedures in order to help the agents involved in improving the financial landscape of immunization to avoid funding delays.
For his part, the head of the EPI's administrative and financial division, Vincent Amba, who represented the EPI's medical director at this activity, indicated that this workshop makes it possible to harmonize certain things related to the management of funds intended for immunization."It was important that the stakeholders strengthen their capacities in view of the weaknesses noted, particularly the slowness related to the procedure for disbursing funds," he said. This before inviting the participants to do their work well, "because it will be a question during this activity of clarifying all these procedures to avoid multiple reproaches from partners in 2023.
