Chad: launch of the Wash sécurité alimentaire protection project
The "Multisectoral Humanitarian Response" project (Wash, Food Security, Protection) for populations affected by crises in the central Sahel region (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and Chad), was launched this morning in Liwa.
The initiative was launched by the NGO Oxfam and the Association pour la promotion des libertés fondamentale au Tchad (APLFT), with support from the German Federal Foreign Office.
The prefect of the Fouli department, Adam Mahamat Mbomi, launched the project. Through this launch, Oxfam intends to inform all stakeholders, including local authorities, partners and beneficiaries, in order to implement the project's activities.
Funded by the German Federal Foreign Office to the tune of over 900 million FCFA, for a 26-month implementation period, the "Multi-sectoral humanitarian response" project (Wash, Food Security, Protection), for crisis-affected populations in the central Sahel region (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and Chad), operates in the sub-prefecture of Daboua and Liwa, in the Fouli department.
Oxfam field manager Issouf Yana Mahamadou emphasized that the project aims to save lives, improve the well-being and maintain the dignity of affected populations in the Fouli department.es in the Fouli department, and on the other hand, contributes to reducing the impact of multiple crises on the most vulnerable strata affected in the Lac and Ouaddaï provinces.
Specifically, the project aims to strengthen access to food and livelihoods for target groups, improve access to drinking water and sanitation facilities for displaced persons and hosts, and build the capacities of women and children.men, girls and boys, including people living with disabilities, to protect themselves against protection risks and sexual violence, and to improve access to aid services.
On behalf of the Provincial Action Committee (CPA), Tchari Affono, Provincial Delegate for Social Action, Solidarity and Humanitarian Affairs at the Lac, emphasized the involvement of local government departments in the project's implementation.
The Prefect of the Fouli department, Adam Mahamat Mbomi, recalled that this project is a response to the government's appeal to humanitarian partners to support the people affected in the Lac province in general and the Fouli department in particular.
He also called for the project to be extended to the Kaiga Kindjiria sub-prefecture. The project is being implemented by Oxfam and the Association pour la promotion des libertés fondamentale au Tchad (APLFT).
