Chad/Abéché: Young animators equipped for more effective leadership
Completion of a SWEDD training course focusing on women's leadership, monitoring-evaluation and entrepreneurship.
Young youth leaders from the provinces of Mandoul, Guera, Bahar El Gazel, Ennedi Ouest and Ouaddaï completed an intensive four-day training course organized by the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Leadership and Entrepreneurship on Friday. The session, part of the SWEDD project, aimed to build their capacities in women's leadership, monitoring-evaluation and entrepreneurship.
Participants benefited from theoretical and practical training on these key themes for the empowerment of young people, particularly girls. The trainers emphasized the importance of female leadership in community development, and the tools needed to set up successful entrepreneurship projects.
For Adoumadji Madingue, alternate focal point for the SWEDD project, this training is an investment in the future. "We hope that the knowledge acquired during this session will enable participants to better support young people in their communities and contribute to their personal and professional development", he declared.
For his part, the Ouaddaï provincial youth delegate, Ousmane Hamdan Azib, welcomed the organization of this training course. He stressed the importance of building the capacities of youth players to meet the challenges they face.
At the end of the training session, participants made a number of recommendations:
- Make the training courses permanent: They called on the government to make this type of training permanent, in order to build the capacity of youth ministry executives.
- Increasing the number of beneficiaries: They hoped that the SWEDD project would be extended to a greater number of young girls, in order to promote their socio-economic integration.
- Strengthening partnerships: They called on partners to continue supporting the initiatives of the ministry in charge of youth.
This training is part of a wider drive to empower young people in Chad. By equipping youth leaders with new skills, the SWEDD project is contributing to the emergence of a new generation of leaders capable of meeting the challenges of their time.
