Canada/Saskatchewan City Mayors' Caucus
The Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) City Mayors' Caucus was held.
Representatives from 16 cities met to discuss important local and provincial issues that affect them.
SUMA President Jean-Marc Nadeau told us that with inflation, the province's income support program and the housing assistance program are no longer sufficient to help people financially.
SUMA is asking for a review of the program, not only financially, but also in terms of admission to homes owned by the provincial government (Saskatchewan Housing).
The admission criteria must be revised, because it is difficult for people, who are in disadvantaged situations, to access housing, explains the president of the association of urban municipalities of Saskatchewan.
