Canada/Québec invests $100,000 in two Charlevoix projects
The Quebec government is granting $100,000 for two initiatives in Charlevoix as part of its Financial Assistance for Local Vitalization Projects program.
Two envelopes will be awarded to Saint-Urbain and L'Isle-aux-Coudres. The two municipalities will each receive $50,000. In Saint-Urbain, the money will be invested in developing mountain bike and hiking trails with interpretive panels highlighting the geological heritage of the former ilmenite mine. The reception building will be modernized, and parking areas for recreational vehicles and a children's playground will be added.
In Isle-aux-Coudres, the municipality will use envelopes to create a new municipal park on the eastern tip, with parking, paths, relaxation areas, three beach areas, as well as interpretation panels and plantings.
The funding is part of the Support for Vitalization and Inter-Municipal Cooperation component of the Fonds Régions et Ruralité (FRR). It will enable social, tourism and cultural action in areas where the economic vitality index is lower.
"I congratulate the people who make these projects possible, because they care about improving their communities. Thanks to your work, you are helping to make the Charlevoix region more dynamic and attractive. On behalf of your fellow citizens, thank you very much! "says Charlevoix-Côte-de-Beaupré MNA Kariane Bourassa.
