Canada/Public transit will be free during the Quebec Games
Public transit will be free for all in Trois-Rivières during the 59th Quebec Games Finals, to be held from July 25 to August 2, 2025.
This agreement between the organizing committee and the Société de transport de Trois-Rivières (STTR) would be a first in the history of the Jeux du Québec.
From the outset, we wanted sustainable development to be at the heart of our event. We wanted it to set the Finale de Trois-Rivières apart from previous events," says board chairman Martin Leblanc.
Michel Byette, Chairman of the STTR Board of Directors, stresses that it was important for his organization not only to welcome visitors, but also to enable the people of Trois-Rivières to benefit.
The STTR has the wind in its sails, our ridership is growing, and our commitment testifies to our desire to go even further," he adds.
In the summer of 2024, between July 25 and August 2 inclusive, 32,000 trips were made aboard an STTR vehicle.
To measure the use of free public transit, an assessment will be carried out after the 59th Quebec Games Finals in 2025.
The organizing committee and STTR also unveiled two buses, one of them electric, in the colors of the 59th Finale. These vehicles are already on the roads of Trois-Rivières.
