A miniature building has been erected at La Place des Pionniers in Saint-François, Madawaska.

Place des Pionniers in Saint-François installed a miniature ancestral building on a pedestal in honor of Nicole Cyr, the first Canadian citizen born at midnight 45 seconds on January1, 1947. At the time, people born in Canada or of immigrant descent were considered British subjects, and this law, enacted by William Lyon Mckenzie King, authorized the granting of their citizenship. It took Jacques Nadeau more than 500 hours in his Edmundston garage to build the miniature model of the house. The inauguration will take place tomorrow, at the same time as the historic village celebrates its 10th anniversary.
