Canada/New terminal for Trois-Rivières
The City of Trois-Rivières inaugurated its new airport terminal on Friday. The project benefited from investments from all levels of government, totalling $20 million.
Trois-Rivières is home to a remarkable aeronautical force, and this new terminal confirms our position in a strategic sector," emphasizes Minister of Labour Jean Boulet.
The new building comprises several facilities. A restaurant, a baggage hall, administrative offices, a storage room, direct access to the runway and a baggage carrousel at a cost of over half a million dollars.
According to the City of Trois-Rivières, modernizing the facilities was essential to support the expansion of air services and commercial activities.
A position shared by Mr. Boulet. There are about fifteen companies that gravitate around the terminal, and this gives us the potential to develop. It's commercial, it's tourism, it's charter flights. And all for the benefit of the entire Trois-Rivières community and the Mauricie region.
The total budget earmarked for the project was $15 million, but in the end had to be increased by a further $5 million.
The old terminal, built in 1963, is still in place and has been modernized to offer a multifunctional waiting area.
To visit the new facilities, IDÉ Trois-Rivières, in collaboration with the City of Trois-Rivières, has organized an open house, open to all, on September 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
