Canada/$78 million for recreational infrastructure projects in Quebec City

The City of Quebec will increase its investments to $78 million for the improvement and development of recreational and sports infrastructures on its territory in 2025.

This representsan increase of $14 million over last year.

In all, some sixty infrastructures dedicated to the practice of recreational activities are targeted by the city for 2025.

Mountain biking and outdoor activities

Projects include the addition of mountain bike trails, walking paths and cross-country ski trails in Chauveau Park. The city is continuing work on the 2 km four-season multi-purpose trail in the area, with the addition of a footbridge over the Saint-Charles River.

The construction of a new service pavilion and parking lot will accompany the addition of numerous outdoor facilities, according to the city.

Parc Montchâtel, in the Haute-Saint-Charles borough, will also see the addition of mountain bike trails and walking paths.

In the Jean-Gauvin sector, where mountain bike facilities have been dismantled, the design of a mountain bike trail will be launched to provide a new space dedicated to this activity.

Future swimming pools

The city will launch plans and specifications for the construction of a new outdoor pool at Parc de la Chaumière.

In the Charlesbourg sector, work will continue on the Maria-Goretti park pool. The pool is scheduled to reopen this summer.
