Burkina Faso/Bazèga: An organization promotes eco-friendly housing solutions
The Association for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development (ASEDD) organized a workshop on Friday in Kombissiri a workshop to build capacity around its partnership with the Nubian Vault Association (AVN), aimed at promoting eco-friendly housing and storage solutions to protect the environment.
The degradation of natural resources, the effects of climate change, and increasing pressure on land and resources are all challenges faced by many communities, particularly those in rural areas.
In this context, the Association for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development (ASEDD) aims to promote eco-friendly, sustainable housing and storage solutions that are tailored to the realities of communities in Bazèga Province.
To achieve its objectives, ASEDD has formed a partnership with the Nubian Vault Association, which specializes in the construction of buildings using local materials.
As part of the implementation of this ASEDD-AVN partnership, a workshop was held to build ownership and mobilize key stakeholders, including administrative authorities, technical services, local governments, community, women’s, youth, and producer organizations likely to contribute to the implementation of this initiative.
For ASEDD President Saïdou Ilboudo, promoting eco-friendly housing and storage facilities is an approach that prioritizes solutions adapted to the Sahelian context, which are sustainable and environmentally friendly.
The workshop provided an opportunity to present the partnership’s objectives, the Nubian Vault technology, and the opportunities associated with promoting eco-friendly housing and storage facilities.
For the High Commissioner of Bazèga Province, Téné Justine Kientega/Ilboudo, the value of such an initiative—in addition to its ecological benefits—lies in the potential to highlight local expertise, develop skills, and create economic opportunities, particularly through construction-related trades.
Participants made recommendations to facilitate the implementation of the ASEDD-AVN partnership’s activities.
As a reminder, ASEDD’s mission is to contribute to environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable development through the design and implementation of innovative, inclusive, and participatory initiatives aimed at strengthening capacities, building resilience, and sustainably improving people’s living conditions.
