Algeria/Civil protection: carbon monoxide awareness campaign continues
The Civil Protection services are continuing their awareness-raising campaign launched in various wilayas of the country, to prevent the risk of accidents due to carbon monoxide, by providing advice and instructions for citizens to follow, the PC services were informed on Tuesday.
In a statement to APS, Lieutenant Youcef Abdat, in charge of information at the Directorate General of Civil Protection (DGPC), said that the campaign, launched at the end of October last year, was continuing through the distribution of leaflets and radio and television broadcasts, as well as the broadcasting of awareness-raising spots via social networks.The campaign, launched last October, is continuing with the distribution of leaflets and radio and TV broadcasts, as well as the broadcasting of awareness-raising spots via social networks.
On this occasion, the DGPC calls on citizens to follow a battery of preventive measures to avoid incidents linked to the use of heating appliances, while ensuring proper ventilation, and to check the batteries of carbon monoxide detectors, as well as their proper operation and installation.
In addition, Civil Protection units have recorded 4 deaths from carbon monoxide asphyxiation due to gas leaks since November 1, and rescued 114 people in several wilayas, according to the same source.
