France/"A wealth of culture": Lorient continues its twinning with Ludwigshafen, Germany
41 young people from Ludwigshafen will be visiting Lorient from July 24 to 31, 2025. Their visit is made possible by a twinning agreement between the town and the German municipality. This year, the group is staying at the local youth hostel.
"You are the future," proclaimed Morgane Christien, 1st deputy mayor of Lorient, at the town hall. From July 24 to 31, 2025, 41 young Germans, aged 12 to 15, were welcomed by the municipality. The operation is part of a twinning agreement between the city of six ports and Ludwigshafen in Germany. Eight activity leaders and a director have been in charge of the stay, which has taken place every year since 2003. In 2025, the group stayed at the Lorient youth hostel, where they visited the Port-Louis citadel, the submarine base, the fire station and the old bomb shelter at Place Alsace Lorraine in Lorient. They also went to the beach and met young people from the Maison de quartier du Bois-du-Château.
