Congo/ Sanitation: towards the recovery of solid waste in Congo
The Indian company Alacrity Corporate solutions PVT.LTD is to carry out studies aimed at recycling waste in the cities of Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire. The Minister of Urban Sanitation, Local Development and Road Maintenance, Juste Désiré Mondelé, held a working session in Brazzaville on May 12 with a delegation from this consulting firm led by founder Pranav Kumar.
After signing a five-year contract with the Turkish company Albayrak Waste Management on April 23, the government is now focusing on the circular economy.waste collection and waste management services in the cities of Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire, the government is now focusing on the circular economy. The Indian consortium Alacrity Corporate Solutions PVT.LTD, which is involved in waste recovery, will not only carry out studies, but also support local companies interested in waste processing. "We recently signed a contract for waste collection with the Turkish company Albayrak, and it was important for us to integrate Congolese companies into the chain. That's why we invited Alacrity Corporate Solutions PVT.LTD to carry out a study in the two capitals, Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire, because we need to know how to classify and recover waste, since we have several types," explained Minister Juste Désiré Mondelé.
According to him, the idea is to move towards the production of electricity and manufactured products. The Albayrak company will collect 1,500 tonnes of waste a day, 1,000 of which in Brazzaville and 500 in Pointe-Noire. "It's a raw material, so the Indian firm is going to carry out a study on the basis of which we're going to make available to all the companies involved in this process. And the company is also ready to accompany them, assist them, support them to see to what extent they can set up," continued the Minister in charge of Urban Sanitation.
Asked about the start-up of Albayrak's activities, he pointed out that the Turkish company is in the process of organizing itself. It is currently working with local players (the municipalities of Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire), with start-up imminent. "We didn't want to let too much time go by so as not to tie up this waste collection operation with the local involvement of local companies in waste recovery. That's why, a few months ago, we made a request, thanks to the intervention of our ambassador to India, who has followed this process and continues to do so to make it practical and concrete", concluded Juste Désiré Mondelé.
Accompanied, among others, by the Congolese ambassador to India, Raymond Serge Balé, the head of Alacrity Corporate solutions PVT.LTD, Pranav Kumar, reassured the Congolese party that his company would contribute its expertise, as waste is a commercial and reliable product. Indeed, after visiting a number of waste treatment facilities in Brazzaville that had become non-functional, he pledged to improve them. " We've come to provide solutions and we want to stay in Congo for a long time", said Pranav Kumar in substance.
