Some 450 people have received financial support from the World Food Programme (WFP) as part of the "4R Initiative" project for rural resilience, which targets rural populations in the Kolda region.

We realized that we have made a monetary transfer of 700 million CFA francs to the 450 beneficiaries of the 4R project, whose objective is to lift women out of poverty in order to empower them," she said.

Fatiha Terki was talking to journalists at the end of a meeting of the steering committee of the project ''4R initiative'' in the city of Kolda.

She believes that this money transfer "allows all women to have income-generating activities that work very well.

These women also have a savings system that works very well, notably the tontines that are very well known in Senegal, but they are also starting to put their money in banks. And this is what we mean by financial inclusion," she said.

She said that the approach put forward by the project has led to "very satisfactory" results. She said that the approach put forward by the project has led to "very satisfactory" results, hoping that "this model will be replicated throughout the resilience projects in Senegal".

In a context of food sovereignty to which the president calls everyone, I believe that this is a project that will strengthen the resilience of our producers," he said.silience of our producers," said Jean Pierre Senghor, chairman of the steering committee of the 4R project financed by the Green Climate Fund.

He considers that "it is an excellent project that intervenes in the regions of Kolda and Tambacounda and which is supposed to strengthen the resilience of our small farmers vulnerable to climate shocks, including drought," he added.

There is no project more relevant than this project, because it is part of the design of the national strategy for food sovereignty at a time when the President [Mackie] is in the process of at a time when the President [Macky Sall] has set the course to achieve it in a context of fight against food insecurity,'' he concluded.
