Togolese authorities and officials of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) are working on the new bases of intervention of the UN branch in Togo. The two parties opened Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in Lome, a meeting to prepare the cooperation program 2023-2026.

The three-day meeting will define new guidelines for the UN organization in Togo, in line with the country's priorities. For UNFPA, it will be specifically about putting an end to unmet needs in family planning, preventable maternal deaths and gender-based violence.

"The 3 days of work are aimed at orienting stakeholders on the UNFPA Strategic Plan 2022-2025 as well as on the roadmap for the development of the 8th country program," UNFPA said.

As a reminder, UNFPA accompanies Togo on several programs grouped into three components, namely Reproductive Health and Family Planning, Population and Development, Gender and Human Rights. It is the main organization that financed the 5th General Census of Population and Housing (RGPH-5) which took place from October 23 to November 16, 2022.
