Burkina Faso/Fight against terrorism: More than 137 million FCFA collected by education actors to relieve victims

The Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Promotion of National Languages (MENAPLN) reports on its second fundraising operation by the actors of education for the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and victims of terrorism, this Thursday, September 16, 2021. More than 137 million CFA francs were collected.

The expanded extraordinary cabinet meeting of the Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Promotion of National Languages (MENAPLN) is held on 16 and 17 September 2021 in Ouagadougou. On the sidelines of the meeting, the Minister of National Education, Pr Stanislas Ouaro, proceeded to the official presentation of funds collected by the actors of education to support the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and people victims of terrorism.

For this second edition, more than 137 million CFA francs were collected for the FDS and actors of the educational world. The beneficiaries of education will receive nearly 54 million CFA francs and the difference will be returned to the FDS, said the minister. For the latter, there will be no official check, insisted the head of the department in charge of education.
According to the Minister of National Education, Professor Stanislas Ouaro, this is a call to solidarity and citizenship.

He was pleased because the second collection has increased, "despite the difficult context. Indeed, according to the officer of the ministry, Djénéba Ouattara, 97 136 357 FCFA were collected during the first edition. The second edition therefore recorded an increase of 38 931 163 FCFA.

Six regions are beneficiaries of this collection. They are the Boucle du Mouhoun, the Centre-East, the Centre-North, the East, the North and the Sahel. The East region, with 151 beneficiaries, is in first place. For Amidou Soré, Secretary General of the Eastern region, receiving the largest check reflects the reality that prevails in the area. While praising the initiative of the Ministry of Education, he said it is with a twinge of sorrow that he received the check.
