Niger: UN system has a new coordinator

Louis Aubin has just replaced Khardiata Lo Ndiaye as head of the United Nations system in Niger. The diplomat presented the figurative copy of her letter of credence to the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, this Thursday, January 21, 2021.

Louis Aubin's mandate will be to ' S 'building on the tradition of cooperation in the region, work with governments and other partners to increase understanding and support for refugees, asylum-seekers and apatrides ,' the UN statement said.

A lawyer by profession with 25 years of experience, the new head of the UN system in Niger has, since joining the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees, participated in a wide range of activities in the field of refugee protection. She has been involved in operations in favour of refugees and displaced persons in several African countries such as the Central African Republic, Rwanda, Guinea and Ethiopia since her arrival at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. She has also served as regional representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Canberra.

Louis Aubin is taking up his position at a time of increasing humanitarian pressure on the countries of the Sahel.
