Haiti - Heritage : The technique of production and consumption of the Cassave protected by law

Pradel Henriquez, the Minister of Culture, informs the Haitian population as a whole and the international community that the "Technique of traditional production and consumption of the Haitian cassava" is officially registered, on January 18, 2021, in the national register of the Haitian national cultural heritage.

In accordance with article 215 of the Constitution and pursuant to articles 1 and 2 of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which entered into force on 17 December 2009, following its ratification by the Haitian Parliament on the one hand, and pursuant to the letter and spirit of the decree of 12 October 2005 establishing the Haitian Copyright Office (BHDA) in Haiti.on the other hand, the "Technique of traditional production and consumption of the Haitian cassava" is now protected by Haitian laws.

Consequently, any commercial exploitation is subject to the legal provisions governing the matter.
