ACCEES study visit to Europe: A journey to shape the future of digital education
The ACCEES project (Accelerating the Development of the Digital Ecosystem in Vietnamese Higher Education), co-funded by the European Union (Erasmus+ CBHE) and coordinated by the AUF, as Secretary, aims to rethink higher education in Vietnam in the digital age. Within this framework, a 29-member delegation led a study visit to Europe from June 23 to July 1, 2025.
Three countries, three inspiring approaches
The mission explored inspiring practices in three European countries. In Belgium, the delegation discovered creative and collaborative learning spaces, where teachers and students co-construct knowledge through the innovative use of digital tools. In France, participants observed the implementation of complete educational ecosystems, combining resource centers, international conferences and integrated pedagogical systems. Finally, in Greece, the attention paid to in-service teacher training and the use of e-learning platforms underlined the importance of investing in human skills to make a success of digital transformation.
Rich and concrete exchanges
The visit was much more than a simple overview: it gave rise to genuine dialogues between education systems. Digital libraries, hybrid devices, pedagogical innovation: all concrete examples showing that technology is a lever, but that the human factor remains at the heart of any educational transformation.
Lessons for Vietnam
The lessons learned are clear: digital transformation is not an objective to be achieved, but an ongoing process. It requires infrastructure, of course, but also a shared vision, ongoing training and a culture of innovation. The challenge is to adapt these models to Vietnamese reality, without reproducing them identically. As Professor Kaye Shelton pointed out in her conference "Blended Learning Excellence: Strategies for Faculty, Student, and Institutional Success", "the success of blended learning lies not just in the technology, but in how institutions support teachers and students in their learning journey". This vision resonated throughout the visit, reminding us that digital transformation is first and foremost a human and collective endeavor.
Building the future together
This visit marks a key stage in the ACCEES project. It feeds into the future strategies of Vietnamese universities, in a spirit of local adaptation and international cooperation.
The journey continues - follow ACCEES to discover the next steps towards sustainable digital higher education in Vietnam.
