Congo/ Community health: free healthcare for the people of Owando
Since July 23, patients from the capital of the Cuvette department and surrounding villages have been receiving free treatment at Owando's 31-July general hospital, following consultations in various departments.
The campaign will end on August 2, and is being run by a medical corps from Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire, France and other hospitals around the country. The medical staff stand out from the patients by wearing lab coats bearing the words "All the people of Owando united for better prospects". The aim is to treat patients according to their pathologies, after free consultations during the "Opération coup de poing santé" campaign, initiated by the Dynamique owando pluriel (DOP), in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Population.
Consultations revealed cases of diabetes, pneumopathy, poorly treated malaria, medicine, cardiology, nephrology and gynecology. Each patient is taken unconditionally to the specialist for ultrasound scans, surgery and medical referrals according to his or her pathology. The "coup de poing santé" activity was hailed by the bishop of the archdiocese of Owando, Victor Abidjan.se d'Owando, Victor Abagna Mossa, who also visited the clinic to check on his state of health.
The patients who received treatment confided that they had regained their health after appendicitis, hernia and other operations. They thanked the organizers and expressed the wish to perpetuate the activity, as the influx of people proves that the population suffers from various pathologies.The campaign initiated by the DOP was welcomed and supported by deputies from other localities.For Christian Ernest Makosso, MP for Tchiamba Nzassi, helping the community with its health needs is not far removed from the vision of the Head of State, Denis Sassou N'Guesso.
