Switzerland/ End of daylight saving time on Sunday: Switzerland will go back one hour
Like many other countries, Switzerland will set its clocks back an hour this Sunday.
Switzerland, like many other countries, will return to standard time this Sunday night. At 03:00, clocks will have to be turned back one hour.
In a press release, the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (Metas) - responsible for producing and distributing official Swiss time - points out that it is not appropriate to speak of "winter time": There is only standard time and summer time," he points out. For over 125 years, standard time in Switzerland has been Central European Time.
Next year, daylight saving time will return on March 30 and last until October 26, i.e. from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October.
High precision
In its laboratories, Metas operates several atomic clocks, thus contributing to the realization of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
The dissemination of high-precision time scales is playing an increasingly important role in many sectors, such as stock market transactions, as well as for the implementation of numerous new technologies, such as the Internet of Things, or for the synchronization of distributed systems, stresses the institute.
To meet these needs, Metas is "currently working on new fiber optic time distribution systems, which will enable very high levels of performance to be achieved, thus making the best possible contribution to the technologies of the future".
