The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has announced the launch of a national breast and cervical cancer awareness and screening campaign, to mark October Rose, the month dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer.

Treatment is provided at 12 oncology centers and 02 gynecological-breast oncology poles of excellence at the Rabat and Casablanca university hospitals, in addition to private clinics specializing in oncology, which reinforce the care on offer, notes the press release.

According to the Ministry, a series of organizational measures have also been put in place to facilitate women's access to screening, early diagnosis and treatment services under the best possible conditions, as well as to strengthen and mobilize partners, external ministerial departments and non-governmental organizations.

These efforts have made it possible to diagnose 64.5% of cases of stage I and II breast cancer, and to ensure more effective treatment, according to the same source.

Breast and cervical cancers rank among the top cancers recorded in women in Morocco, accounting for 39.1% and 6.5% respectively, according to data from the latest Cancer Registry 2018-2021 report.
